Go through this tutorial to review the format of the examination questions and get information on how to use the software that provides the computer-based exam.

General Information

You are responsible for familiarizing yourself with the computerized examination system. Fortunately, the system is easy to understand and requires little or no prior computer experience.

This tutorial will familiarize you with the examination system before exam day. It will show the format of the examination questions and how to use the features of the system, such as how to view questions, select answers, review marked and incomplete questions, and end the examination.

The exam is administered during a seven-hour testing session, which consists of an online tutorial (up to 10 minutes), four one and one-half hour (90 minutes each) test periods, an optional break after any section (up to 50 minutes), and a post-test survey if time is available within testing session. Timing for the examination will be as follows:

First 10 Minutes

1-1/2 Hours

Examination Block 1

1-1/2 Hours

Examination Block 2

1-1/2 Hours

Examination Block 3

1-1/2 Hours

Examination Block 4

Post-Examination Survey

Important! When you select the "End Block" dialog box in both the tutorial and examination sessions, a warning (You are about to end the block!) will appear alerting you that you are about to exit that exam block.

Once you exit the block, you will no longer be able to review questions or change answers within that block.

Likewise, when you click on the "Exit Block" dialog box in the second, third, and fourth examination blocks, you will receive the same warning pop-up, and once you exit you will not be able to return to that block to review or make changes.

Additional Tips

Load Time of Flash Video in the Tutorial
Loading the flash video in the tutorial may take some time, up to 10 to 15 seconds or in some cases a little longer. This issue will be addressed in the future when we implement a full-featured version of the web-based tutorial that is optimized for the web. Thank you for your patience.

Session Time Out
If you leave your browser open but do not interact with the application for 30 minutes or longer, the webpage will become unresponsive. You will then have to close the browser, open a new one, return to the ABPTS website and click on the tutorial/sample examination link and start over.
