Criteria for establishment of a new specialty area are established by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and guide the development of all new specialty areas. The APTA House of Delegates approves all new specialty areas.

All SACE members who have at least 10 items produced and submitted through to the specialty council's item review coordinator in a calendar year have an opportunity to win and be recognized.
